Use of the Overleaf Professional licenses
Important information regarding the availability and use of the Overleaf Professional licenses provided by HUN-REN.
Number of licenses available: A limited number of 180 licenses are available at the HUN-REN level, distributed to approximately 3800 researchers.
Application procedure: Applications should be sent to ugyeletes@kinin.hu and will be processed in the order in which they were received. The Overleaf Professional subscription of HUN-REN can be accessed with an eduID, so the corresponding EPPN (eduPersonPrincipalName) attribute must be provided in the request, which can be found at https://whoami.sso.kinin.hu.
Frequency of use: Licenses that are inactive for 2 months will be revoked. If they are needed again later, the application can be resubmitted. Data, storage, and collaborations will still be available after the license is revoked (this also applies to licenses issued before 31.05.2024).
Please note that once you have successfully logged in, Overleaf may not ask you to log in again for several months. To avoid misunderstandings in the usage statistics, you should log out and log back in with your SSO (institutional credentials) at least once every 2 months.
Free version or Professional: We recommend that you first try the free version of Overleaf, which offers a wide range of features for editing documents and collaborating between editors. For information on the differences between the various Overleaf packages (Free, Standard, Professional), please visit https://www.overleaf.com/user/subscription/plans.
Collaboration or personal license: A user with a Professional license can invite an infinite number of people to the project they have created as a collaborator. In this case, the invited user will also have access most of the functionality associated with a Professional license in that project (including extended compile times and tracked changes), even if they do not have their own Professional license.
Please take the above information into consideration before applying.
